IVR (interactive voice response): what it means in pay per call
IVR (interactive voice response): An automated phone menu that asks callers questions (press 1, say yes) before routing them.
How it works in pay per call
In pay per call, an IVR filters out unqualified callers, captures data (zip code, age, coverage type) for routing or RTB, and plays required disclosures.
IVR time may or may not count toward the buffer, so agree on that with buyers. Many call tracking platforms include an IVR builder; check whether IVR minutes are billed at a different rate.
Example
Example: 'Press 1 if you're 65 or older, press 2 if you're under 65.' Callers who press 2 are routed to an under-65 campaign, or politely ended, before they reach a Medicare buyer.
